| Tournament and Handicap Rules |
| 1. |
All members who participate in Club tournaments or leagues shall abide by the handicap rules and procedures established by the USGA. Five (5) scores must be posted in order to establish a USGA Handicap. |
| 2. |
In order to establish and maintain accurate handicaps, it is essential that each member post his/her score immediately after the completion of play. |
| 3. |
Each player must use his/her established handicap at the beginning of the tournament and for the duration of the tournament (only players with established USGA Handicaps may enter). |
| 4. |
In tournaments contested over an extended period of time, the players current handicap will apply at the time of each match. |
| 5. |
Medal play tournaments must be played on the day established. Match play tournaments should be played on or before established dates. |
| 6. |
The Superintendent and Golf Professional shall have full authority to establish rules relative to the condition of the course for play, winter rules, temporary rules, and temporary playing areas. |
| 7. |
All scores from a tournament or event (where prizes are given) must be posted to the handicap computer with a T (for tournament round). |
| 8. |
The Handicap Committee shall have full authority to insure the integrity of the handicap system. This shall include, solely at the discretion of the Committee, the imposition of penalties against any member who fails to accurately post all scores. |
| 9. |
Acceptable Scores Fair handicapping depends upon full, accurate information regarding a players potential scoring ability as reflected by a complete scoring record. Every golfer shall be responsible for returning all acceptable scores, as defined. For handicap purposes all adjustments including Equitable Stroke Control, must be applied to all scores including Tournament Scores.
Equitable Stroke Control (ESC)
Downward adjustment after round is complete
Handicap
9 or less Double Bogey
1019 7
2029 8
3039 9
40+ 10
For tournament play, you must adjust score for handicap purposes when you post it in the computer. Turned-in tournament scorecards must reflect accurate gross scores that are signed by scorer and attester. |
| 10. |
Unacceptable Scores Scores should not be posted when: |
| |
|
The event puts a limit on the number of clubs used (fewer than 14), or is a scramble. |
| |
|
A player uses or carries non-conforming clubs or balls. |
| 11. |
Unfinished holes and conceded strokes—if a player starts but does not complete a hole or is conceded a stroke, that player shall record for handicap purposes the score he/she most likely would have made. The most likely score consists of the number of strokes already taken plus, in the players best judgment, the number of strokes that the player would need to complete the hole from that position more than half the time. When the scorecards are turned in with holes showing blank scores, those scores will be recorded as PAR PLUS HANDICAP FOR INDIVIDUAL HOLES by the Handicap Committee. |
