From The Grille Room...
From the Grille Room
Thankfully, the 2010 season got off to an early start in the Grille Room—we missed you all winter! The wonderful weather in April was a blessing that we hope will continue until late Fall.
We began the new year in mid-January with dinner hours Thursdays and Fridays, and reserved Saturdays for special events. Steak Night in January brought out about 50 members and guests, and our ambassador members, Corny DenHarder and Mark Clark, paired some great wines (that we continue to carry on our wine list this season) with the steaks.
Our “Member Guest Chef” nights were a huge success and lots of fun, too. I can’t thank Jim Thomas, his friend Gary Gunia and brothers David and John Wright enough for sharing their time and talent with us. A special thanks to Justin Hance, Brian Sackett and Greg Wood for taking on ambassador host duties for our “Chef Nights,” too. The food was terrific and your responses to these types of events even better! We are already putting together a few similar events for the Fall!
Chef Paul joined us just before Easter and proved his talent immediately. We currently have separate lunch and dinner menus, although each are available at any time. Fast favorites were his Chicken Pauly (a pasta dish with prosciutto ham, grilled chicken and a spinach volute cream sauce) and his 5-cheese grilled cheese that comes with a cup of the soup of the day. He has also added a Kobe Beef Burger and a New York Strip, which the membership had been asking for. Suggestions for a new menu in mid-June are certainly welcome. Our summer menu will focus on fresh local products and lighter fare.
We have committed to getting the grill out more often this season. Although which Saturday afternoon each month will vary based on events, the first Tuesday of every month will be “Cookout Night” featuring different proteins each month.
If you’ve been out on the course, I bet you’ve seen (or should I say “heard") the new beverage cart. This season we're offering ”ready-made” sandwiches on the cart and are also looking for other suggestions as to what you would like our beverage cart service to provide. Chips and Power Bars were suggested and we have begun including those items.
Over the winter we purchased an outdoor portable bar. We’d love to host an event for you on the patio that could be exclusively your own. It’s such a great space for an after-work gathering! We can also rent a tent for larger events, as we did for several of our Monday golf outings last season.
I am again blessed that most of the Grille Room staff will be returning this season. We have hired a few new folks in the front of the house and the kitchen, whom I know you will welcome with open arms, as you have myself and the rest of the staff.
We are excited about the 2010 Golf Season. Please think of us when planning home or office events, or just visit whenever you don’t feel like cooking!
