Men's Events

Men’s Stag Days – 12:30 pm Shotgun
During the months of April – September you are invited to participate in Men’s Stag Days. Stag days are designed for Members to entertain clients or guests in a competitive and fun environment. Foursomes of Members are encouraged to play as well. The format changes from month to month. Please refer to the calendar for exact formats and dates. The cost for the event is $40 per player which includes golf, golf cart, range balls and dinner. There will be and optional game and raffle for those who would like to participate. Handicaps are required for those members and guests playing in the event. Sign-ups for each event will be posted one month prior to the date of the event.

Men’s Director’s Cup
This fun, but competitive event is an Individual Match-Play format using 100% handicap.The field is limited to the first 128 golfers to sign-up before the deadline on April 11th. Deadlines are set throughout the season to ensure that all matches are completed. The competitors are responsible for setting up a time to play their match. If a match is not decided by the Friday before the deadline, a match time will be made by the professional staff on the Sunday before the deadline date. If only one player shows for the match, he is determined the winner. If no one shows, both players are disqualifies from the tournament. The entry fee includes all prizes. All match deadlines will be observed. A sign-up sheet will be posted on March 13th on the sign-up board.

Men’s Two-Man Best Ball Tournament
The Best ball Match Play format is played using 100% handicap stroked off the low man in each match. The field is limited to the first 64 teams to sign-up by the deadline of April 11th. The same rules apply for this tournament as the Director’s Cup concerning deadlines and disqualifications. Please refer to the Director’s Cup for more information. The entry fee includes all prizes. A sign-up sheet will be posted on March 13th on the sign-up board.

Men’s Member-Member — Tee Times 8:00 am – 11:30am
The event has players compete in a different format each nine holes. Best Ball, Scramble, Pinehurst Alternate Shot and Scotch Alternate Shot. Handicaps are used to flight players only. All play within flights is without handicap. Make your own tee time for the first round. Tee times will be assigned based upon scores within flight for second round. The entry fee for the event includes lunch both days, tee gift and tournament prizes. You may choose to walk or ride. There is a $25 surcharge per round for PAG Members.

7th Annual Horse Race – 2:00 pm Start
This exciting event pits the top ten available players in the Club against each other in a shoot-out format. All 10 golfers tee off the 10th hole with one player being eliminated every hole until a winner is crowned on the 18th green. This is a very entertaining event that you will not want to miss. Spectators are encouraged. Carts are available free of charge to spectators. The beverage cart will follow around the competitors.

Cattail Classic Member Guest Tournament
This is our premier event of the season. Reserve the dates July 15–17 on your calendar well in advance because you will not want to miss it! Invite your guest to participate in this flighted, best ball, round-robin style format. You will receive mailings fully describing the event and sign-up dates well in advance. If you have any question please ask a professional staff member.

Championship Weekend
The Men’s Club Championship and Junior Club Championship (18 hole boys and girls) will all compete during the weekend event. Men’s Championship Flight along with all other flights, including juniors, will play a 36-hole Stroke Play event, 18 holes will be played Saturday and the final 18 holes played on Sunday. Handicaps are used to flights the players but not used in the actual event. Any player wishing to play in a lower handicap flight than they qualify for may do so. The entry fee includes tournament prizes and trophies. A sign-up sheet will be posted one month prior to the event.

Fall Frolic — 9:00 – 11:30 am Tee Times
The Fall Frolic is the final major tournament of the season. The format is a 36-hole Three Person Scramble with minimum tee shots requirements for each golfer. There are handicap requirements that must be met before forming your team. Tournament information packets will be available in the golf shop well before the tournament date. Ladies Events

Ladies Golf Clinics
Each session will focus on certain aspects of the game. Please refer to your golf calendar for specific details. The clinics are two hours in length and include group instruction, one-on-one help and practice time. The sign-up sheet will be posted one month before the clinics on the sign-up board. Feel free to sign-up with a friend or you may bring a guest. Each session will be limited to the first 18 people.

Ladies Opening Mixer — 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Tee Times
This mixer event is new to the event schedule this year. Teams will be paired by the professional staff using an ABCD pairing system. The format for the event will be count one Gross and one Net. This event is a good way to come out and meet new people and have fun.

Ladies Stableford League — 8:00 – 9:30 am Tee Times
This 9 hole league is comprised of four teams with 10 to 12 golfers per team. Each week the top three scores from the team are counted based upon the Stableford Scoring System. The league is divided into two halves of eight weeks each. You may make your own tee time. A sign-up sheet is posted each Tuesday for the following week. Most golfers continue to play nine more holes after their league 9. Prizes will be awarded for top individual, top teams, and perfect attendance for the whole year. The entry fee includes all prizes.

Wednesday Night League
This 9-hole drop-in style league is great for ladies working outside the home. Tee times are reserved from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. The cost is only $3 per week, which includes any prizes. Please call ahead to let the golf shop know that you will be plying that evening. Guest nights are always popular for this league, as you can bring a friend out with no green fees. On these nights the tee time will be extended from 5:00 until 6:00 pm.

Ladies Day
Unlike the Stableford league, Ladies day offers 18-hole events with a different format each week. Play is based mainly on individual performance, unlike the Stableford teams. The entry fee for the league includes all weekly prizes. As with the Stableford league you may choose to walk or ride. If you plan on playing on Ladies Day please attend the Ladies Opening Cocktail Party for more information.

Ladies Director’s Cup
This fun, but competitive event is an individual Match play Format using 100% handicap. The field will be limited to the first 16 golfers to sign-up by the deadline of May 9. Lady’s Best Ball Match Play
This is a new event for the ladies in the 2010. Like the Ladies Director’s Cup this event pits teams of two Ladies against one another in a season long match play event using 100% of the player’s handicap, which is played off the low handicap of the foursome. The event is unique in that each match played is only nine holes. The field is limited to the first 16 teams to sign-up before the deadline of May 9. Deadlines will be set throughout the season to make sure that all matches are completed. The competitors are responsible for setting up a time to play each match. If a match is not decided by the Friday before the deadline, a match time will be set by the professional staff on the deadline date.

Ladies Moors Cup
The format for the Moors Cup is a flighted 36-hole Individual Stroke Play event using 100% handicap. The event is open to all lady members at The Moors. Prizes are awarded to all flight winners as well as the overall champion. A sign-up sheet will be posted on the sign-up board one month in advance.

Ladies Member Guest — 9:00 am Shotgun
This is the premier ladies event of the season. All lady members are invited to bring a guest to participate in this exciting event. The tournament is based around a theme and includes prizes, gifts, snacks, food, drinks and awards presentation. You will receive more information about this event by mail. Please be aware of the sign-up deadline and guests must have a verifiable handicap.

Ladies Diamond — 8:30 am Shotgun
This is a four-club event between Kalamazoo, Gull Lake and Battle Creek Country Clubs. Gull Lake Country Club is hosting this year’s event. The format is Two Best Balls of Four, One Gross and One Net. Teams are made by mixing and matching foursomes based on handicaps by professional staff. The cost of the event is determined by the host club and includes golf, cart, prizes and lunch. A sign-up sheet will be posted one month prior to the tournament.

Ladies Club Championship — 8:00 – 9:30 Tee Times
All flights will compete in a 36-hole Individual Stroke Play tournament to determine the club champions. Handicaps are used to flight the players but are not used in the tournament. A sign-up sheet will be posted on the sign-up board one month in advance.

Ladies Member-Member — 8:00 – 9:30 am Tee Times
This two-day event is a much anticipated tournament for the lady members. A different format each nine holes will test the teamwork between the players. More information on this event will be made available during the season. A sign-up sheet will be posted one month prior to the event on the sign-up board.

Ladies Fall Challenge — 9:00 am Shotgun
This event pits our top lady golfers against others from private clubs in the area. This year’s event will be held at Gull Lake Country Club. Invitations are given to the lowest eight available handicaps. Please check in the golf shop to see if you are in the running to make the team.

Junior Events

Junior Golf Camp
This program is designed for junior golfers of all skill levels. The camp is broken down into four levels of players: 2, 4, 9 and 18 holers. Juniors may change divisions to find the one best suited to their ability level. Each sessions of camp involves learning rules, etiquette, swing movements and on-course play. The program is open to member’s children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews between the ages of 6 and 15 years old. Each Moors Junior Golfer is allowed to enroll on friend in the program. The entry fee includes all instruction, club championship entry, rules book, hat and shoes. The membership will receive more information, early in the season, on how to sign-up. If you are interested in being a volunteer for junior golf camp, please contact a member of the professional staff.

Junior Interclub at The Moors
This event is open to all juniors at The Moors between the ages of 10 and 18. Juniors will compete in stroke play for either 9 or 18 holes depending upon their age. Juniors play at Kalamazoo CC, Gull Lake CC, Battle Creek CC and The Moors. It is a great way for junior golfers to gain experience in tournament golf and meet other juniors from other private clubs in the area. A lunch is also provided after golf. There is no charge for this event but we do ask that junior’s sign-up one week in advance.

Junior Club Championship
This event is the culmination of the junior golf camp. The 2, 4 and 9 holers will compete against others in their division in a stroke play format. There is no fee for those players that are registered in the junior golf camp; a $10 fee will be charged for juniors not registered in The Moors camp. A sign-up sheet will be available at junior golf camp as well as on the sign-up board.

Championship Weekend
The 18-hole Boys and Girls Junior Club Championship will take place during Championship Weekend. Any Junior 18 years old or younger may sign-up to compete in this 36-hole stroke play format. A sign-up sheet will be posted on the sign-up board a month prior to the tournament.

Parent-Child Championship — 10:00 am – 1:00 pm Tee Times
The event is a Pinehurst Alternate Shot format with four different divisions: father-son, father-daughter, mother-son and mother daughter. The age and gender determine which set of tees will be played. Prizes are awarded to top scores in each division. The entry fee for the event includes prizes and trophies. You may choose to walk or ride. A sign-up sheet will be posted on the sign-up board one month prior to the tournament.

Senior Events

Men’s Senior League — 8:30 am – 9:30 am Tee Times
This informal, 9-hole drop-in style league has a different event each week. The majority of the players continue to finish all 18 holes after the league nine. The cost for the weekly event is $4 and includes all prizes. All you need to do is show up during this period of time. You can either play with your group of friends or ask to be paired. This is a great way to meet other members at the club and make new friends.

Senior Club Championship
The Senior Club Championship is a 36-hole Stroke Play event. There is a Gross and Net Champion in each age division: 1) Senior Division – 60-69 years of age, 2) Super Senior – 70 years and older. The event fee includes prizes and trophy. You may choose to walk or ride.

Couples Events

Cattail Mixed Couples — 6:00 pm Shotgun
The mixed couples events are designed to be fun, non-pressure events for members and their spouses/significant others. The events are for golfers of all skill levels with events including: Two Person Scramble, Four Person Step-a-Side Scramble and Four person Scramble. Prizes are awarded based on gross and net scores, as well as on course contests. The event fee includes golf, cart and prizes. Carts are mandatory for this event. There are no guest fees on the guest nights. Please refer to your calendar for exact dates. The sign-up sheets for each event will be post one week prior to the event on the sign-up board.

Memorial Day Couples Pinehurst — 11:00 am – 1:00 pm Tee Times
The format of the Pinehurst event is a Modified Alternate Shot. Both players tee off, switch and hit your partner’s ball, then select the best shot and alternate from there until the ball is holed. Prizes are awarded for gross and net divisions as well as the team with the lowest amount of putts. Sign-up in advance and select your tee time.

Mixed Couples Team Match Play
This exciting new event for couples is a great way to meet new people. The format is a season long, team match play event. Each player gets 100% of their handicap and each match will be played off the low handicap in the foursome. Deadlines are set throughout the season to ensure that all matches are completed. The competitors are responsible for setting up a time to play their match. If a match is not decided by the Friday before the deadline, a match time will be made by the professional staff on the deadline date. The field will be limited to the first 32 teams that sign-up.

Husband-Wife Championship — 11:00 am – 1:00 pm Tee Times
This is the major couple’s event of the year. The Championship is a Better Ball of Partners format with prizes awarded in both gross and net divisions. Sign-up in advance and select your tee time. The event fee includes all prizes. You may choose to walk or ride.

Open Events

Men’s Opening Day — 9:00 am Shotgun
This event kicks off the tournament season with a 3-2-1 Best Ball format. The event is open to any member at The Moors. Teams will be paired by the professional staff in ABCD handicap categories. The 3-2-1 BB format is one where you count the best 3 net scores on all par 3’s, the 2 best net scores on all par 4’s, and the best net score on par 5’s. “A” players will play the black tees, “B” players will play the blue tees, “C” players will play white tees and “D” players will play from the green tees. The event fee includes breakfast, cart, prizes and lunch. Carts are mandatory for this event.

Pro-Member Tournament
This golf event was a big hit last season so it’s coming back. The event is a season-long team contest. Each team will consist of three members and a pro. Each team will compete against all other teams that participate. The cost of this event is $10 per player.

Beat the Super-Pro
This exciting new golf event allows two members to team up and play against the Superintendent and the Golf Professional. The format is a 2 Person Best Ball, with 100% handicap. On a select Saturday in August members will have the opportunity to wager $10 to $40 on the match. If your team beats the Super-Pro team you double your money in golf shop credit.

Moors Tailgate
This fun-filled event allows members to let their hair down. There is no dress code and players are urged to wear their favorite football jerseys and jeans! The tailgate portion of the event runs for two hours and then everyone plays 9 holes of golf in a scramble format. The entry fee for the event includes food, beverage, games, cart and prizes. Come out and support your favorite team!

Chilly on the Greens
Bundle up! This event is a fun event to partake in later in the golf seasons when there a “chill” in the air. Teams can be made up of members only or your may bring guests as well. The entry fee for the event includes golf, cart, and different types of chilly for lunch! There is also an optional fee if you’d like to participate in the game. Carts are mandatory for the event.

Social Gatherings

Ladies Opening Cocktail Party — 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
This party is a great way to reunite with friends, make new ones and get involved with ladies leagues and events. The professional staff will discuss the 2010 Ladies Golf Calendar and answer any questions that golfers may have. We will begin signing up golfers for the Stableford League and the Ladies Day at this party. The Grille Room will be open for those wishing to eat and drink. We encourage all ladies planning to participate in any event this year to come out for a night and attend the party.
